On this day in 1976, “THE TERRITORIAL WATERS, CONTINENTAL SHELF, EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE AND OTHER MARITIME ZONES ACT, 1976”
(ACT NO. 80 OF 1976) was enacted in India. It came into force on 15/01/1977.

It is an Act to provide for certain matters relating to the territorial waters, continental shelf, exclusive
economic zone and other maritime zones of India.

This Act is of special significance in International Law and also in Customs Law.
