The Supreme Court of India today allowed the eligible female candidates also to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination.

The Apex Court said that the Army’s policy to not allow the female candidates to appear for the exam is based on “gender discrimination”.

In this regard, one could look at the Fundamental Rights granted to the Citizens of India in Part III of the Constitution of India.

United Nations in a Twitter post dated 25/06/2021 has commented that “Seafarers have been on the COVID19 frontlines, maintaining the flow of vital goods, such as food, fuel & medical supplies.”

June 17 is a World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.

Its purpose is to

raise awareness of the presence of desertification and drought,

highlighting methods of preventing desertification

recovering from drought.

Today is World Blood Donors day.

The aim is to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and of the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems.

The day also provides an opportunity to call to action to governments and national health authorities to provide adequate resources and put into place systems and infrastructures to increase the collection of blood from voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors.
